What to Bring

Sea duck hunting in Maine is an outdoor activity and thus, due to changing weather, very unpredictable. Be prepared for temperatures ranging from the upper 40s down to just 5 degrees above 0. Wind, rain, and snow are always possible.

For clothing we recommend:

  • waterproof hunting coat and pants (camouflage pattern is not necessary)
  • 2 pairs of waterproof gloves
  • face mask & hat
  • waders or hip boots
  • long underwear and a second fleece layer

For shotguns we recommend a 10-gauge or 12-gauge with a 3.5-inch chamber. For shells, we suggest a minimum of 2 boxes per person, per day, in 3- or 3.5-inch #1 or #2. (If airline restrictions prohibit you bringing your own shells, we can assist you; please let us know in advance).

You will also need:

  • a cleaning kit
  • photo ID or hunting license from your state
  • a Maine small game license*
  • a Maine state duck stamp as well as a federal duck stamp

*Licenses are available at the Kittery Trading Post as well as at LL Bean.

We provide a 36 exposure camera for each party.
